0-8: NFC East posts first winless two-week stretch since 1970
The division's lack of victories over the last 14 days has placed the Cowboys and Eagles in a unique position to reclaim the lead.

The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles enter Monday night's game at Lincoln Financial Field with identical 2-4 records. The outcome will determine which team holds a realistic chance at the NFC East title, a position that remains mathematically open for both sides.
The division has produced zero wins in its last eight games, a feat not achieved in any NFL division since the 1970 merger. The New York Giants hold the division lead at 3-2-1, but the Cowboys and Eagles sit one game behind. This stagnation creates a rare opportunity for either side to leapfrog New York and take sole possession of the top spot.
Philadelphia faces immediate personnel hurdles. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is on injured reserve with blood clots and will miss the rest of the season. Tanner McKee, who served as a backup for two seasons, will start. He received a full week of practice with first-year offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, a marked improvement from the two days he had before last week's loss to Carolina. McKee stated he plans to collaborate more closely with the coaching staff to refine his preparation.
The Eagles' rushing attack is depleted. Saquon Barkley is out with a hamstring injury, and backups Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby are also hurt. Carson Steele, recently promoted from the practice squad, injured his shoulder in the most recent game. Dameon Pierce carried the ball for 35 yards in that contest. The Cowboys allow 4.7 yards per carry, a defensive metric that could benefit Philadelphia's running game if they find a healthy option.
Dallas struggles with defensive consistency, ranking 30th in the league under first-year coordinator Christian Parker. The offense scored just 29 points in its last two losses, including a 23-13 defeat to Green Bay. This marks the first time since 2019 that Dak Prescott has scored fewer than 20 points in consecutive starts.
Owner Jerry Jones addressed the coaching situation at the NFL's annual fall meeting on Wednesday. He stated that no further coaching changes are expected this season, describing the hiring of Mike Pettine as a strategic move. Jones emphasized the unique nature of Pettine's background in the organization.
Individual milestones are at stake for both squads. CeeDee Lamb leads the NFL with 48 receptions, a franchise record for six-game stretches. Javonte Williams has seven rushing touchdowns, matching Emmitt Smith's pace from the mid-1990s. Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert needs one reception to move into third place on the team's career list. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. CST on ESPN.
