Wisconsin women's tennis entered the 2026 season with a perfect record, a standard not met since 1992. On Saturday, the Badgers maintained that streak by winning a doubleheader with identical 7-0 scores. The team defeated Bradley in the first match and then shut out Green Bay in the second contest.
The Badgers controlled the opening doubles matches, setting the stage for the singles competition. Freshman MaryAnn Rompf and senior Kelsey Grambeau defeated Theresa Tebon and Tallie Piaskowski, 6-1. Sophomore Melissa Pick and freshman Lexi Keberle followed with a 6-0 victory over Maria Neff and Samm Pedersen.
In singles, Wisconsin players dropped only one set across the entire match against Bradley and none against Green Bay. Keberle won her first singles match against Tebon, 6-1, 6-1, extending her combined singles and doubles record to 7-0. Rompf beat Piaskowski, 6-3, 6-1, while Michelle Linden defeated Sterre Tijssens, 6-1, 6-0.
Pick shut out Neff, 6-0, 6-0, in the fourth singles match. Christina Zordani finished the match against Green Bay by beating Pedersen, 6-0, 6-1. Zordani improved her singles record to 5-0 for the season. Green Bay fielded only five players in the second match, a limitation that hindered its ability to compete.
Head coach Kelcy McKenna attributed the results to the team's focus on controllable factors. She cited attitude, effort, and energy as the primary drivers of the performance. McKenna stated that the team must continue to manage daily details in practice and match simulations to prepare for upcoming events.
Despite the flawless record, McKenna identified doubles as an area for improvement. She noted the need for better serves, returns, and aggressive placement during service plays. She emphasized the importance of carrying the momentum from a doubles point into the subsequent singles matches without giving away free points.
The Badgers will next compete in the National Team Indoor Championship. That event is scheduled for Feb. 9-12, with Wisconsin serving as the host.
