Political rallies in the capital frequently draw large and energetic crowds, yet the safety of senior figures remains a priority for local law enforcement. On the night of October 24, 2026, a man from Givatayim was taken into custody following a physical dispute with one of the security personnel assigned to former prime minister Naftali Bennett.

The incident occurred during a public gathering in Tel Aviv. Bennett was present at the event, which was organized to urge the creation of a formal commission to investigate the shortcomings identified during the events of the October 7 massacre. The atmosphere was charged, and the crowd was dense, requiring a visible security presence to manage the space around the speaker.

According to preliminary accounts, the suspect appeared to have consumed alcohol. He attempted to bypass the cordon formed by Bennett’s bodyguards while shouting a specific political slogan supporting the current prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Guards instructed the man to step back, but he continued to push forward, leading to a tense standoff.

When one of the security officers physically blocked the man’s path, the suspect did not retreat. Instead, he pushed back against the officer, resulting in a shove. The bodyguard team quickly contained the individual, holding him in place at the scene until uniformed police officers arrived to secure the area and take the suspect into custody.

Police transported the 23 year old man to a local station for questioning. Initial background checks revealed that he had no prior criminal history. Investigators are currently reviewing the details of the confrontation to determine if formal charges will be filed. The case remains under active review as of this week.

This confrontation takes place against a significant political backdrop. Bennett served as the nation’s head of government for a year, from June 2021 until June 2022. The timing of this arrest is notable, as it occurs just days before the Knesset elections scheduled for 2026. Military personnel had already begun casting their ballots at designated polling stations earlier this week, signaling the imminent start of the general voting process.
