QuikTrip has filed plans for a new location at the intersection of FM 1960 and Mills Road. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation listed the filing, signaling the start of a new commercial development in the area. This addition to the local market follows similar expansions across the region.
In the school sector, Klein Independent School District officials confirmed via email on Oct. 22 that a major capital project will begin in 2027. The district is preparing for a $29 million construction effort focused on the Klein Collins High School auditorium and traffic flow. A related filing appeared with the state licensing board on Oct. 9, establishing the timeline for the upcoming work.
Travelers arriving at George Bush Intercontinental Airport accessed the redeveloped Terminal B North Concourse on Oct. 22. The airport officially unveiled the new facility on Oct. 21. The space features a United Club that officials described as being the size of a football field, marking a substantial upgrade to the terminal's amenities for passengers.
Local business owners are also marking milestones in the community. Sound Revolution, a record shop in the area, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this month. Co-owner Sunne Walton, who runs the store with her husband Scott Waldrum, attributed the shop's continued success to a renewed interest in physical media. Walton noted that younger customers are driving increased demand for CDs and vinyl.
Montgomery County officials made several administrative decisions during the week. Commissioners voted 5-0 on Oct. 22 to approve additional law enforcement support for The Woodlands Township’s mounted patrol services. This vote follows a September decision by the township to accept the sheriff's office proposal. Additionally, Precinct 4 opened a new public park on Oct. 29, a development announced in a news release dated Oct. 13.
The political cycle advanced as the first week of early voting concluded on Oct. 30. The Montgomery County elections department reported that 104,054 ballots were cast during that period. This figure represents 21 percent of the county's 487,232 registered voters, according to data from the Texas Secretary of State. The numbers indicate steady participation ahead of the November 2026 election.
