Early Black Friday promotions have reduced prices on smart bird feeders, lowering the cost of popular solar-powered models from Birdfy and Kiwibit.

Smart feeders entered the consumer market in 2020. Since then, manufacturers have integrated high-resolution cameras and artificial intelligence into devices that cost relatively little. A Wired reviewer who has tested these products for years states that current models offer 4K video recording and bird identification features that rarely produce errors. Most units require minimal maintenance, such as refilling seed, provided owners install them using the 5-7-9 rule for pole mounts to deter squirrels.

The current deals cover three specific products. The original Birdfy feeder with a solar panel is listed at $127, representing a 29 percent discount. This price applies only to the blue version. A separate model without the solar panel is available for $110. The Kiwibit Feeder 2 with a solar roof is priced at $170, also a 29 percent reduction. Finally, the Kiwibit 4K Feeder with an auxiliary solar panel costs $140, reflecting a 26 percent discount.

The Birdfy model supports only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and comes with a two-year warranty. The reviewer recommends paying the extra $17 for the solar panel to avoid manually charging the device. The Kiwibit Feeder 2 features a 1.5-liter seed hopper that splits into two compartments for different feed types. It captures 8-megapixel photos and 4K video. The device operates on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and carries a one-year warranty.

The Kiwibit 4K Feeder uses the same camera and hardware as the Feeder 2 but lacks a built-in solar roof. Instead, it includes a 3-watt solar panel that attaches to the wall mount. The reviewer notes that this option saves buyers $30 compared to the Feeder 2 while maintaining image quality and build durability.

Retailers have not announced when these specific discount prices will end. The deals are part of early holiday sales events that typically precede the main Black Friday shopping period in late November.
