The Commercial Court of Luhansk Oblast has ordered the Russian state to pay 65.36 million hryvnia, approximately 1.6 million dollars, to Oliiar.
The award compensates the company for 2,107 tonnes of sunflower seeds lost after Russian forces seized its storage facility in Svatove.
Oliiar, registered in Pustomyty in Lviv Oblast, entered a contract in October 2021 to buy 4,700 tonnes of sunflower seeds from Prydniprovske Agrarian Company LLC.
The firm arranged for Svatove-Ahro LLC to store the crop at a warehouse in Svatove.
By February 24, 2022, Svatove-Ahro had forwarded 2,592 tonnes to Oliiar, leaving 2,107 tonnes in the occupied facility.
Following the start of the full-scale invasion, Russian armed groups took control of the warehouse premises.
Oliiar never recovered the remaining portion of its purchase.
The court determined that Oliiar provided conclusive evidence linking the crop loss directly to Russia’s armed aggression.
The compensation figure was set based on an expert valuation.
The Russian Ministry of Justice represents the Russian state in the case.
Iryna Zalizna is listed as the founder of Oliiar, and Iryna Podoba serves as its director.
This ruling follows a similar decision by the same court earlier this year, which ordered Russia to pay 51.67 million hryvnia, about 1.25 million dollars, to Trading House Agrokhim LLC for property lost in Svatove and Kakhovka.
