Paula Reid has begun her tenure as the chief White House reporter for MS NOW. The outlet, backed by Versant, confirmed her arrival in a memo sent by Sudeep Reddy, the Washington bureau chief. Her first day on the job is Thursday.

Reid arrives at the newsroom just days before the midterm elections. Reddy stated that Reid will serve as a key reporting voice for the Washington Bureau. He added that she will help drive the newsroom’s investigative and enterprise journalism efforts.

In her new position, Reid is expected to work closely with Scott Foster, who leads the White House unit. She will also collaborate with journalists Vaughn Hillyard, Laura Barrón-López, Jake Traylor, and Akayla Gardner. A team of producers and photographers will support their work.

Reid most recently worked as CNN’s chief legal affairs correspondent. She covered the Justice Department, major federal investigations, and the Supreme Court. Before her move to CNN, she spent more than a decade at CBS News. At CBS, she worked on investigative and justice reporting teams before becoming a White House Correspondent.

Two people familiar with the situation said Reid turned down a contract renewal at CNN. They cited uncertainty about the network’s future under its new corporate parent, Skydance. MS NOW has increased its focus on hard news under President Rebecca Kutler.

Reid is the latest in a series of experienced journalists to join MS NOW. Other recent hires include Peter Alexander, Eugene Daniels, and David Rohde.
