Bambu Lab will sell the H3C 3D printer on November 3.
The company confirmed the release date for its new tool-changing machine. The H3C replaces the traditional AMS system with a Vortex-style rack. This rack holds nine tool heads above the build chamber. The design allows the printer to swap colors quickly. It also produces less plastic waste than previous models.
The H3C joins the H-line, a group of flagship devices that includes the H2S, H2D, and H2C. The new model is most similar to the H2C. That machine uses a motorized rack to hold seven tools. The H2C has a build volume of 330 x 320 x 325 millimeters. The H3C stores its idle tools overhead. This placement keeps the view of the first print layer clear. A reviewer for Tom's Hardware noted that this solves a visibility issue found in the Bondtech INDX system. That system requires users to look through a rack to see the print bed.
An 11-second teaser video showed the rack dropping down with a metallic sound. The clip displayed nine colorful Bowden tools arching over the top of the printer. This footage corrected earlier online speculation. Some YouTubers had guessed the machine would hold ten spools based on leaked images. The teaser confirmed the count is nine. The company did not specify what holds the spools in the teaser.
Bambu Lab has promoted the H-line as a home manufacturing hub. Dr. Tao of Bambu Lab spoke about building multitasking machines last year at Formnext. The H2D includes a laser tool. The A2L offers optional blade cutting and embossing capabilities. These features suggest the H3C may also perform tasks beyond standard 3D printing.
Full specifications for the H3C remain undisclosed. The company expects to reveal all details when the printer goes on sale next month.
