Ashton Jeanty has averaged 3.5 yards per carry across 372 attempts since entering the league with the Las Vegas Raiders. His 1,303 rushing yards trail the production the Raiders expected when they selected him sixth overall in the 2025 draft.

The 2025 running back class produced 737 yards combined during Week 4 of the 2025 season, the highest total for any rookie group in a September week since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. In Week 6 of the 2026 season, that same class generated 246 yards combined, its lowest weekly output to date. Corey Kiner led the class that week; he is an undrafted free agent and was third string on the New England Patriots roster.

Injuries have removed many of the class's top performers from weekly availability. Jeanty, Ollie Gordon II and LeQuint Allen Jr. are the only three running backs from the 2025 draft active for every game since entering the league, and Gordon and Allen have spent most of that time as backups. Jeanty played through an ankle issue during the 2026 preseason.

Jeanty's per-carry average of 1.3 yards before contact during his rookie season ranked last in the NFL. He was hit at or behind the line of scrimmage on nearly 52% of his carries, a rate exceeded only by Quinshon Judkins. In 2026, he has been contacted behind the line on 47.2% of attempts, and 91.3% of his rushing yardage has come after first contact.

Against the Los Angeles Rams, Jeanty scored a touchdown on a fade route off play action. He followed that with a 22-yard reception on a back-shoulder throw from Kirk Cousins. Jeanty has 34 catches for 312 yards and three touchdowns this season, though he has dropped five passes.

Chargers running back Omarion Hampton has averaged 3.6 yards per carry in 2026 while splitting work with Kimani Vidal and Keaton Mitchell. He has fumbled twice, and the Chargers offense has stayed on schedule on 37.5% of his carries against a league average of 39.4% for running backs.

The Raiders selected Jeanty sixth overall in 2025 before the next four picks: offensive tackle Armand Membou, receiver Tetairoa McMillan, offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. and tight end Colston Loveland.

The class has topped 600 rushing yards in a single week once since Week 4 of 2025.
