Colts RB Jonathan Taylor Says He Has Not Requested Trade
The running back confirmed he remains in Indianapolis despite the team trading two veteran stars this week.

Jonathan Taylor has not asked the Indianapolis Colts to move him. The running back confirmed this fact on Wednesday, a day after the franchise sent two of its most prominent players to rival teams in a series of swift transactions.
The roster changes occurred on Tuesday. The Colts traded guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks. They also sent defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers. These two moves removed the last remaining cornerstones from a defensive and offensive line that had anchored the team for years.
Taylor stated that he has heard no formal proposal or request from the organization to trade him. He described his current mindset as one of pride in wearing the team's uniform. He noted that while he cannot control the business decisions made by front office executives, he remains focused on the immediate schedule.
The Colts are currently 2-5. This record follows a late-season collapse in the previous year. Taylor said he is preparing for a road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. He rejected the idea that the team is in a formal rebuilding phase, emphasizing that competitors do not wave white flags on the field.
Despite Taylor's public stance, other NFL teams have contacted the Colts regarding his availability. These inquiries suggest that other franchises view Taylor as a high-value asset. The Colts signed Taylor to a contract extension in August of this year. That deal keeps him under contract through the 2028 season.
Taylor spoke with principal owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon earlier this week. He did not disclose the specific details of that conversation. In 2023, Taylor went through a long contract dispute with Indianapolis, during which he formally requested a trade. He now says he understands the business nature of the sport and is prepared for any outcome.
The team has not announced a decision on Taylor's future status. He remains the top remaining offensive piece on the roster. The next few weeks will determine if he stays in Indianapolis or if the organizational reset extends to the backfield.
